Newsletter Summer 2005

The recent weather is certainly in full summer mode – let’s hope it continues! It is also the time when thoughts turn to study and career development. Our programmes are beginning to fill so reserve your place! We are offering our popular Certificate in Training Practice in Chesterfield as well as in London, the Isle of Man and in company programmes at locations to suit our clients

A new departure for us is to invite our PAC candidates to share their experiences and reflections with you. Madeleine Campbell has written a thought provoking article on the HR dimension of Business Contingency Planning. Contact us if you would like to be put in touch with Madeleine.

If you have anything you would like to share please contact Maureen Scholefield on ms@csgconsult.com

Certificate Programmes - Dates for autumn 2005

We have set our dates for the popular Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Certificate Programmes in Personnel – the Certificate of Personnel Practice (CPP) and in Training – the Certificate in Training Practice (CTP). These programmes are extremely practical and provide an excellent foundation for a career in Human Resources. They are very cost effective in terms of time away from work as there are only 9 days for the CPP and 10 days for the CTP. Most of the theory is covered by open learning workbooks leaving time to develop skills during the tutorials.

Professional Assessment of Competence

The alternative route to membership is proving to be very popular.

Leadership Skills for Senior Management

Carol Bates, Maureen Scholefield and Kate Davis have been involved in running a programme for one of our clients. This was a customised programme which gave the participants the opportunity for frank feedback on their management styles and how they worked with their peers. This is something that we are really good at doing! Give us a call if this sounds interesting….

CPD Opportunities….

Many of you will be aware of ACAS – the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service. Their website is really good and we have been particularly impressed with their eLearning packages. These are easy to work through and have the added advantage of remembering where you stopped!

Another good site found is Legal 500. If you click on Legal Developments and select Employment there is a good selection of employment articles. We have found this an excellent way to keep a finger on the pulse of employment legislation
