Effective Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
Do you find that you are so busy fighting fires and dealing with the myriad of day to day issues that you find very little if any time to reflect upon what you are actually learning? If you, like so many busy executives and managers, fall into this category, then you are missing an essential part of your professional development: CPD. If you want understand and apply the powerful benefits of CPD, then this workshop is for you!
Aim:
Through gaining an awareness of the powerful benefits of CPD, delegates will be introduced to a CIPD recommended approach to CPD and will be able to apply this to the context of their work environment.
Objectives:
By the end of this workshop delegates will be able to:
- State why CPD is an essential element of personal development in the work environment
- Describe the framework of CPD, including the CPD Plan and Record
- Identify how ‘active reflection’ can result in clear direction for improving own performance
- Create a CPD Plan, identifying key development opportunities related to the context of work
- Link the process of CPD to that of appraisal and other performance management processes
Methods:
This half day workshop will be highly participative and will focus on sharing experience of personal development planning and reflection, with practical development of a CPD Plan and Record.
