Transactional Analysis
Transactional Analysis is a theory developed by Dr. Eric Berne in the 1950's. Originally trained in psychoanalysis, Berne wanted a theory which could be understood and available to everyone and began to develop what came to be called Transactional Analysis (TA).
TA is a social psychology and a method to improve communication. It outlines how we have developed into who we are, how we relate and communicate with others, and offers suggestions and interventions which will enable us to change and grow. TA is underpinned by the philosophy that:
- people can change
- we all have a right to be in the world and be accepted
Recognising that TA is a highly complex area of learning, this workshop focuses on a top level understanding of its application to the work environment.
Aim:
To introduce delegates to the key components of TA theory, relating this to its practical application in the work environment.
Objectives:
By the end of this workshop delegates will be able to:
- State the underpinning theory of TA and why it is important in the context of the work environment
- Describe key developments from the original theory as developed by Eric Berne
- Provide examples of the application of TA can identify areas for organizational improvements
- Apply TA to the context of their own organizations
Methods:
This one day workshop will involve active discussions around the theory of TA and its various interpretations, in the context of the real world work environment.
