Interviewing Skills
Interviewing is a skill applicable to a variety of work place scenarios, including selection, performance management, grievance and disciplinary. Whilst each scenario has its own specific requirements, the fundamental skills of the interviewer are applicable to all. In simple terms, interviews involve the eliciting of information in order to facilitate the decision process. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? But, how confident are you in your ability to engage effectively with another individual in order to gain information? Going back to basics, this workshop will provide the opportunity for you to gain familiarity, or perhaps refresh your knowledge, of the process of interviewing, and a benign environment in which to practice your skills.
Aim:
To provide delegates with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to prepare, conduct and evaluate interviews effectively in any given scenario.
Objectives:
At the end of the workshop delegates will be able to:
- Identify when it is appropriate to conduct interviews
- Understand the relevant legislation applying to Interviews
- Effectively plan and structure interviews
- Utilise Questioning and Listening skills to get the most out of interviews
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the interview process

This will be a highly interactive workshop utilising tutor input, role play, discussion and practical exercises.
