Umbrella Principle - Employee Engagement
Maureen Scholefield is working on establishing a pragmatic approach to Employee Engagement. She first presented her thoughts at the HR Directors Summit in January 2011. She has continued to work on this topic and regularly shares her views with our client base.
So what is the Umbrella Principle?
She feels that the challenge for HR professionals is to get a blend of activities that is appropriate for the organisation, its culture and its people. This sounds simple, but isn't it more difficult to express things simply?
Start with the fact that every umbrella has to have spokes. There are key spokes that are common when looking at Employee Engagement BUT there is an opportunity to build a strategy that meets the organisation's needs, its cutlure and more importantly its people.
